LSU - Chillennium 2022

Description

LSU DMAE (Digital Media Arts & Engineering program), Computer Science, The College of Art & Design, and the College of Engineering invites LSU students interested in creating games to the LSU Fieldtrip to Chillennium 2022. We attended in 2018 and 2019 in which we won two awards. LSU will provide lodging and transportation to the evnt. Participants must register for the event as soon as possible (see registration information below). The first 22 students registered will earn a spot on the trip and will have the honor of representing a LSU DMAE team during the jam. Chillennium game jam provides breakfast, lunch and dinner during the jam.

Trip Dates

Transportation will leave LSU Digital Media Center at approx. 8:00AM on Friday, April. 1^st and return Monday, April 4^th by approx. 1:00_PM.

What is Chillennium?

Chillennium is an annual 48 hour student game jam that takes place at Texas A&M University. Organized for students, by students, this unique event brings participants from universities across the nation together to collaborate with experienced industry professionals and compete for awesome prizes! Teams ranging from 1 to 4 participants will be given a common theme and will then have 48 hours to plan, design, and develop a video game from scratch. Artists, programmers, and designers are all invited! No previous knowledge about games is needed, just a passion for creation!

Games will be judged by a team of industry professionals and sponsors. Judging will begin immediately following the game jam's ending. Games will be ranked on a scale from 0 to 5 for their Innovation, Quality, and Completeness in the categories of Programming, Art, Design, and Sound for a total maximum score of 60. The three teams with the highest overall scores will be awarded the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for Best Overall Game. Additional prizes will be awarded to the teams with the highest individual scores in Programming, Art, Design, and Sound. To encourage innovation, there is also an award for VR.

When & Where?

Chillennium 2022 will take place at the Texas A&M Hildebran Equestrian Center. It will start on the afternoon of Friday, April 1,^st at 4pm and end 48 hours later on Sunday, April 3^rd at 4pm. We are leaving on Monday instead of Sunday evening to leave time for the awards presentation. This is fun to experience in person (the judges usually take a few hours)! The mentors will be walking around giving feedback as well during the judging period.

How to Register?

Registration for the LSU fieldtrip to Chillennium 2022 is officially open! If you are currently a LSU student, you can register at Eventbrite! Registration ($55) ends March 25th! This includes entry to the event (you DO NOT need to register at the Chillennium wesbite) as well as trasportation and room and board.
